A newborns struggle

My children's' reflux medicines must be compounded

It is common that 80% of newborns are born with a disease called (G.E.R.D) reflux and it causes them many problems with eating and sleeping, and everything else. I have had two children with this disease and the only thing that works since I can't change their formula (since I breastfeed) is giving them medicine. The medicine that is prescribed is Prilosec and it comes in pill form and has to be compounded into liquid to give an infant. If this wasn't available then my infant would suffer the consequences. Please take into consideration of a newborn child, we are trying to give them the best so they can grow up to be strong and healthy and if I didn't have the medication that could be compounded, we both would suffer.
Thank You

My Daughter's Life Depends on Compounded Medications

Child with palsy

My daughter's life depends on compounded medicine. She received a Heart Transplant at age 2 1/2 months and during that time developed cerebral palsy. She is now 9 years old and without compounded medications would not be able to survive.

My daughter was born with a congenital heart defect. At age 2 1/2 months she received a heart transplant. Due to complications in her early life, she also developed cerebral palsy, resulting in other disabilities: legally blind, mute, spastic quadriplegia, feeding tube, and recently implanted rods along entire spine. Despite her disabilities she is alert, aware, and communicates via switch plate device. She attends church, public school, brothers' sporting events, etc. She loves to shop, swing, boat ride, anything a 'normal' child enjoys. She wins the hearts of anyone who takes the time to get to know her. She is a FIGHTER WHO ENJOYS LIFE! We thank GOD and the medical world--including her COMPOUNDING PHARMACIST--for the blessing of HER LIFE!

Due to my daughter's complicated medical needs, her physicians and compounding pharmacist must work closely together to assure her heart is not compromised and medications do not contradict each other. Therefore, her life relies on the expertise of her compounding pharmacist and compounded medicines. Furthermore, our Pharmacist PERSONALLY CARES for my daughter as well as his other clients.

We recently discovered that the Government wants to take away compounding medications from our daughter and others like her. Compounding Pharmacies are a must to people with Special Needs. Please don't allow legislation to close compounding pharmacies. BIG COMPANIES DO NOT CARE! Please do not deny my daughter and others their right to live!!
